FreeCRM.com, the world’s most popular cloud based CRM with over 260,000 customers worldwide today has announced that it has been selected by Mitochon Systems over Salesforce, for superior value in customer relationship management software to automate their business. FreeCRM.com supports HIPAA compliance and is SAS 70 audited just likeSalesforce.com but 90% cheaper, making FreeCRM.com the clear choice in cloud based customer relationship management software for the healthcare industry.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) September 14, 2012

FreeCRM.com, the world’s most popular cloud CRM with over 260,000 customers worldwide has announced today that it’s Pro Edition will now come with unlimited cloud storage for files, allowing teams to share and collaborate on documents and any media that your business needs to access anytime, from any device. Integrating CRM with corporate assets, files, invoices, quotes, plans and other documents is a huge advantage for organizations wishing to cut down on and give better solutions than email attachments and corporate file sharing solutions like Microsoft Sharepoint.

Cloud CRM combined with document and file storage helps customers organize, collaborate and distribute any file – documents, spreadsheets, 3D files, animations, videos or any other type within a simple to use online folder system that is very common in other SaaS storage solutions. Offering cloud storage is an instant value-add, making it easier for businesses to take advantage of the ease of use and simplicity of cloud storage systems integrated with CRM.

Whereas other vendors in the cloud storage space, such as Box or Dropbox offer unlimited storage packages at much higher price points (tens or hundreds of dollars per month) and without integrated CRM, SalesForce.com recently announced ChatterBox product would likely be priced at a premium for integrated storage and CRM. In contrast, FreeCRM.com will provide unlimited storage space with their Professional edition CRM priced at $14.95 per user per month.

The CRM value leader with over 260,000 customers in over 200 countries, FreeCRM.com has been recognized again and again as the clear choice for CRM that is simple, powerful, and cost effective and allows you to achieve your goal – getting and keeping more customers. Our trusted cloud CRM platform helps employees collaborate and connect easily with customers like never before and is a great alternative to Oracle, SAP, SalesForce.com or SugarCRM.

CRM ASP / FreeCRM.com Pricing Update

Please note we have a free product which is and always will be absolutely free
To our valued clients:

CRM ASP and FreeCRM.com appreciates your business, and we hope that you are happy with the service as we are constantly upgrading and providing additional and new features to help you and your business. We are writing today to let you know that it has become necessary to increase our rates so that we may continue to provide excellent service and to increase the amount of service and quality of support that we provide.

The primary reason for the increase is to enhance the support staff and organization around services as well as support of the Voice CRM product.  The bottom line is that our prices were way too low to maintain our level of service and in addition, when compared to the competitors, our prices were extremely low and therefore difficult for us to increase the level of support provided. By raising our already rock-bottom prices, we are still much cheaper than the competition when compared with comparable service levels.

This price increase is the first since 2006 and was even postponed by several months to provide some relief due to the tough economic climate.

We are moving to a support and pricing model that is similar to our competition but priced at a very affordable rate compared to the other products in the industry. With this new pricing plan, we are able to augment our support staff and provide higher quality personnel in order to better service our larger customers and those needing a higher degree of assistance.

Effective September 1, 2009, pricing of our plans will be as follows:

$14.95 Standard Plan: We have created a new plan that has all of the enhanced features of the product but has no support. This will allow users to take advantage of the enhanced feature set of Professional but not the added cost of support.

$19.95 Professional Plan: All of the enhanced features of the system with email and live chat support and trouble ticket tracking / issues tracking support. This is our enhanced feature set with the basic support package and only lacks telephone support.

$24.95 Premium Plan: All of the enhanced features of the system with all support options including phone support.

$39.95 VoiceCRM Plan:Â Premium service plus Voice enhancements including VoiceCRM, Vonage and Skype support, and Google Voice.

Training Sessions:Â $45 per 1/2 hour training sessions, new pricing which is a huge discount (price decreased from $175 per hour).

Business Process Consulting:Â $90 per hour, with our 3-hour Business Starter Package at $250.0 (3 hour package).

If you have any questions at all, please feel free to call or write. Again, thank you for the opportunity to provide service to your company.

All the best,

The CRM ASP Team

We’re delighted to announce major new features: Voice CRM, Microsoft Word Mail Merge and Print Campaigns!
Voice CRM integrates your telephone with Freecrm. Right click any phone number and you can dial it directly. Your phone will ring first, and after you answer it the target’s phone will ring as well. The details of the call, start and end times will be captured automatically in a call record.
This is available for users of the Professional version and is currently in Beta. While we are testing the service and iron out any issues the calls you make are completely free! Make sure that the right click menu is enabled (via Preferences). Before you start be sure to set up your voice account and phone numbers for each user. You can do this via the Setup screen under Voice Setup.
Microsoft Word Mail Merge allows you to upload Word documents with embeded special tags like [contact.first_name] or [contact.company.company_name] and have them replaced with the contact’s details when you compile the document. You can Create Print campaigns, subscribe many contacts to them or use a saved search and generate multi page document ready for printing.

More documentation and examples for Voice CRM and Print campaigns will be added soon.
Additions:

Voice CRM! Make calls directly from the crm and right now – its free!!!

Microsoft Word Mail Merge lets you merge contact and company data into a predefined Word template.

Print Campaigns allow you to generate word documents for multiple contacts.

You can now create an email signature to be used when emailing individual emails to contacts.

You can now subscribe to all campaigns from the contact context menu. Simply click any contact link with the right mouse button.

We enhanced the call screen to include tabs for easy access to the contact, deal, case etc.

You can now create a document backup of all your files under the Docs section. If you have a large number of files you will have to wait up to 24 hours for the backup to be created.

Mail account verification – you’ll now find a Verify link next to your mail accounts. Click it to attempt to verify the accounts setup. We’ll email your account an email using your account, and immediately go to check if it has arrived.

New report: Calls by time.

Fixes:

Quick search on 3 term keywords used to throw an error under certain conditions. This has been resolved.

This is a small complimentary release to the last one. We’ve ironed out a few issues some of you had with the last release and will continue to improve the functionality and stability of the system.

We update the rich text editor we use (the fantastic TinyMCE) to version 3.0.2.1.

User administrators can now choose to allow users to change fonts and colors in their rich text editors (if they are using them). You can find this option in Page 2 of the Profile Settings screen. (we’re working on making this ever increasing selection of options be more manageable).

You can now add the following menu items to the left hand side menu: Contact Search, Company Search (both go to the full search forms). The FAQ menu item has also been made available after it was mistakenly omitted in the last release. You can add those items from Setup->Setup Left Menu.

Record history has been returned to its rightful place below the left menu bar.

A few fixes were made throughout the site to resolve reported issues with the previous release.

UPDATE: Please clear your browser’s cache if your home page looks funny.
A big one this time! Lots of new features that have been in the works for quite a while now.

Customizable Home Page! – You can now customize what’s on your homepage. We’ll be adding more boxes you can place on your homepage soon. Note that you can either drag home boxes around, or use the arrows icon to move them with a single click. If you take out a box and would like to add it back, use the Add boxes menu item on the left navigation menu.

Customizable tabs! - You can now customize which tabs are required for your organization. If you don’t use Email campaigns, you don’t need to have that tab appear on every screen for example. Tabs are customized by administrators but you can also allow regular users to customize their own tabs – see Page 1 of the Profile settings page for that option’s switch. (pro users only).

Customizable left menu – You can now customize the left hand menu bar! (pro users only).

Quick Create form can be called up from anywhere. Need to create a quick contact or company record while editing a different record? No problem – just click the Quick Create button on the left menu and a quick create form will pop up.

Vonage integration – Got a Vonage account? Integrate it with freeCRM (pro users only). This will enable you to place calls (and create corresponding call records for them) straight from the CRM. See the setup screen for the vonage configuration form.

You can now choose to hide the pencil icon from the views. You will not be able to edit empty fields or link fields from the views when the pencil is hidden.

Resolved a few issues with the new Editable Views and Internet Explorer 7.

Next/Previous buttons on a contact page now takes you to the next record based on your contact display mode (first name or surname first).

You can now create alerts to notify you of a record’s creation

User administrators can now set a security setting to allow all saved searches to be shared amongst the entire team. You’ll find this option in Setup->Security Settings.

We resolved a few minor issues with extended field searching and special characters.

We are happy to introduce ‘Editable Views’: In the company and contact’s views, you can now double click a value (or for empty values, single click the pencil icon) to edit that value then and there. Once edited, use Enter or Tab to make the new value ‘stick’. We are rolling this feature out as a test in company and contacts form only, and you’ll notice it does not include all fields. If you have any issues or suggestions with this feature please let us know via the Support section (pro users only). During the following week we’ll be rolling out this feature to the rest of the views and fields.
In addition to that, this release includes:

Email campaigns now show counts for successful mail outs, failed ones and queued emails. This breakdown is shown in each email campaign page. The count in the email campaign listings will show successful mail outs only.

POP3 and SMTP accounts now support custom ports and SMTP accounts support SSL and TLS security methods.

User Administrators can now edit or delete messages written in the message board even if they did not create the original message.

Contacts and company records now show Previous and Next buttons to advance to the next record in alphabetic order.

When you now save a shortlist you will have the option to overwrite existing copy with the same name by ticking a box. If you do not tick it and a shortlist with the same name exists, a copy of it will be created (e.g., if you have ‘My shortlist‘ already and try to save a shortlist with the same name, ‘My shortlist 2‘ will be created if that box is not ticked).

We updated the XML based web service documentation to reflect that you can set Case close date and deadline fields via the service. As well you can now define the behaviour of handling duplicates when using the update_criteria option (update or reject record). See the docs for more.

You can now assign a Knowledge Base node (document or folder) to a case.

When you are saving email arriving from your POP accounts as contact notes, attachments will also be saved as documents for the contact.

New report added – you can now view a list of the last 100 notes entered into the system across all record types in one unified view.

Fixed a problem with Flag All button from a custom view.

Fixed an issue when exporting criteria campaign mailer list

Fixed an issue with document form when creating a document from a deal screen.

Right clicking a company link will now also show all of its addresses in the pop up panel.

By default, event notifications will now also show Contact and Company contact info in the event notification email. You can customize this (pro users) as well and use 2 new tags in the template: [CONTACT] and [COMPANY]

You can now share saved shortlists between all your users. See the new setting in the Setup->Security Settings screen.

We’ve put in a fix for a recent problem sending emails via GMail. We’d like to remind you that GMail has a limit on how many emails you can send in a day (around 500) so keep that in mind when you are sending out campaigns via GMail. If you are a serious user of the email campaigns, consider using your own SMTP servers or one other then GMail.
As well, we’ve put in a minor update to the way email campaigns report how many emails where sent. The campaign page will now show how many were sent successfully and how many failed. A look at the archive for each campaign will yield more information for each individual email.

SMS / Text Campaigns – This is an experimental new feature, still in Beta. SMS stands for Short Message Service and is the more ‘technical’ term for text messages. It will allow you to send text message campaigns. Since this is a pretty important and large bit of functionality we’ll be introducing it in parts and with certain limitations. More on that will follow soon. The campaign send-out is not yet fully active though the setup for campaigns can be created. Note that your contact’s mobile phone numbers must exist for a contact to be valid for SMS campaigns.

Duplicate report now shows duplicate mobile phones. This will allow you to prepare for SMS campaigns.

Two new skins introduced to change the look and feel of freeCRM: Gray Sky and Pretty In Pink. Both can be selected from your Preferences screens. Note that at some point in the future the two older skins San Francisco and New York will be replaced as we intend to allow you to modify the tab structure and those two skins get in the way.

Email campaign listing page now divided into pages where applicable.

Pro accounts can now delete users at any time. Usage will be calcuated on a pro rated basis (pay as you go).

Fixes:

The mail out count in the Email Campaign section now shows the count for successful sends per campaign.

When you now clear an email campaign queue, all pending history items for that queue will be removed as well.

Fixed a problem with alerts not working properly when assigned to a specific user.

Fixed a few layout and display issues throughout

You can now set up alerts that will notify all users of the account once the alert event has happened.

New security setting added to the Security Settings screen under Setup: Administrator Access. This setting can determine if User Administrators can always see other user’s data regardless of the selected security setting.

By default the system will now remember the last page you were at in result listings. You can turn it off and have all record listings default to page 1. The option to do so is on Page 2 in your user preferences screen.

Identifier fields added to the contact and company full search forms

Using the XML web services (which allow pro users to create records in the CRM from their own websites) now allows the assigning of a record to a particular user based on its Id. You can see your user’s unique Id via the Setup->Create/Edit Users screen.

Calendar, case and task exports via the left navigation menu now include a list of assigned users.

Relevant exports now show certain dates and times both in the UTC time zone and the user’s local time. For example, in the calendar export the start and end dates now show both in the UTC and local timezones (as set in your preferences).

All exports via the left navigation menu now show the record tags where applicable.

Fixes:

When completing mass record updates the screen will now refresh back to the initial step.

Resolved an issue with email campaigns not auto sending when using the XML web services to update the CRM from your own website.

Quick create form now redirects to edit screen again if set to do so in your preferences.

Deal’s ‘Show All’ button now works as intended.

This means that there might be a delay between the time you click “Mailout” and the time the email is actually mailed out. Remember you can always check the state of your emails by clicking the Queue link or button for that campaign. If there is something in the queue you’ll be able to review it.

Resolved an issue with the contact creation dates

3-part date pickers on the mail out screen now set the proper schedule.

Fixed a problem with this week display for calendar events.

Product listings now show the product group as well.

We have changed the default value for calendar mode. If you have never chose a calendar mode in your preferences, or have just registered, you will have the default calendar to be the enhanced pop-up calendar instead of the 3-part date selector. If you are using the 3-part date selector we recommend that you switch to the enhanced pop-up calendar – it just works a lot more intuitively.

TinyMCE, the rich text editor was updated to version 2.1.1.1

Additions:

Better handling of different time zones – Please recheck that your timezone is the right one in your Preferences screen.

Quick create form now creates record quicker, and allow for creation of records in quick succession.

Page numbers now show at the bottom of grid views.

Deals now have an “exclude from reports” switch to remove them from consideration in the report’s library and pipeline reports.

Added Create New Note as an option to the right click context menu of records.

Email campaigns now show the next schedule date (where available) of the campaign mail out, and clicking it provides a list of all future schedules for this campaign.

Calls now allow setting the call flag from the call summary screen.

You can now save pipeline report as a PDF document in your Documents section.

Added new report: Companies by status

You can now search records by notes from the search panels.

Fixes:

Call List link now appears in custom views for contacts

Fixed pagination issue when searching by extended fields from the full contact form.

Time line now defaults the end date to ‘now’.

Unavailability panel in the new calendar event form now works properly.

Fixed a problem with imported companies not rolling back.

Tidied up a few places which ignored the “do not allow deletions by users” setting.

Call list link now appears properly in custom views links.

Fixed a problem with criteria campaigns and using tags as criteria

Tag fields added to full search forms for contact and company.

Quick-fill fields now work faster without refreshing the page after each update. There are many Quick-fill fields scattered through out the application – if you see the mouse cursor change to a hand while hovering an empty listing field (for example contact phone number) you can click to update the field right there without having to open the record form.

Calls pagination from a company page (under the calls tab) will now work properly.

Fixed a problem which made it impossible to revert a campaign from using a saved search to normal criteria.

We’ve gone and added context menus to record links that lacked them.

Fixed an issue with the status field in the combined form sending double values sometimes.

Fixes to extended fields searching from the full contact and company forms.

If you are a pro user using the xml web services to update your crm data from your own website, please note that the time zone field for contacts have been update. The change is noted in the web services docs (available from the Profile Settings page under Setup).

Additions:

Pro users can now create extended fields that link to external sites. The links will open in a new browser window.

Pipeline report now shows breakdown of deal commissions

Deal commission totals reports added to the report library (2 reports – one for open and closed deals)

Event form now contains a new check box to determine if to also email the event contact if emails are to be sent. Tick the box to include the contact in the event email notification (prior to this release the contact was always included in the email notification).

Pipeline report now allows to show open, closed or all deals. We’ve also move the Closed/Open deal count to the top of the pipeline report as this is not affected by the open/closed filter. The default is to show open deals.

We’ve added the Closed field to the call import mapping form.

Fixes:

Fixed a problem when searching for extended fields using a data value from the advanced search panel for contacts and companies.

Notes created by email campaign mail outs will now record the creation date and time properly

Fixed a problem when subscribing a contact to multiple campaigns that are set to auto send and create notes. In such a scenario, the auto send will now work fine.

Pipeline date filter now works properly when using the 3-part date selector

Call note saving from the call page will now work properly with the regular plain text field.

Quite a big release this time:

Additions:

RIGHT CLICK CONTEXT MENUS! – You’ll now be able to right-click items to open an actions menu for that item. For example, click a contact name to open a menu showing actions like Email, Call, Edit etc. As well, right clicking contacts and company links will also show some useful descriptive information such as phone numbers, emails etc..

Queue and Hold for email campaigns – You can now queue an email campaign to be sent out but hold the mailout until verified by you. This gives you an option to review and amend the campaign’s output and see who will be mailed out and what the email would look like.

Extended Field search now includes AND, OR and NOT criteria – You can now perform advanced searches based on your extended fields via the Full Search form for contacts and companies. We will extend this to the rest of the record types in the near future.

Criteria Campaigns can now use saved searches as the criteria - This is the new recommended way to use criteria campaign. Simply choose an already saved search (via the full contact search form) and the campaign will include those contacts returned by that search.

Events this week display on the front page now shows event count when you fold a section.

You can now search by Tags from each section’s search panel.

You can now change the access key for the search field from ALT+S to anything you like (ALT+S clashes with a Firefox shortcut for the history menu. You can find it in page 1 of the Preferences screen.

We have made some improvements to the page sizes that are sent to your browsers to increase the general speed of the site (this will be an ongoing effort and we’ll keep on improving on that area).

You can now edit call notes while viewing the call details page and call script form.

The Rich Text editor that we use (the wonderful tinyMCE) has been upgraded to version 2.10.

Raw exports now start at the click of a Start button instead of immediately when the link in Setup is clicked.

You can now re-index your extended field data (should the need ever arise) via your Setup screen. This is only available for User Administrators.

Fixes:

Criteria Campaigns now return proper results when using extended fields.

Clicking Make Call from a deal page that has a primary contact set, will default the call to that contact (and/or company).

Contacts and companies created when importing Call records will now roll back properly if that import rolls back.

Raw exports should now work fine.

Contact Custom Views now show the Email link correctly on the right most options column.

When you click the Call button for a contact, the relevant phone numbers will now be displayed in the call form.

Full search forms (contact and company) will now load saved searches containing extended fields properly.

Pressing the Return/Enter key when on a form that contains lookup will now submit the form as expected and won’t open the lookup search window.

You can setup your system so that if a non existent company name is entered in a company lookup field, instead of prompting you that the company does not exist, it will be created.
This setting is available for User Administrators only, and can be found under the Setup, in the Profile Settings screen. It is labeled as “Lookup record creation mode”.

We actually recommend all users to use that setting as it can save you time by auto creating companies as you need them.

Additions

When creating events, you’ll now receive more detailed notification regarding who was emailed a notification of the event and who was not.

When mass updating many fields (via the short list) you can now choose to append a value to existing fields instead of overwriting it. This is only applicable to textual fields, and only in the Professional version.

Added a Save and Create a Follow Up button when editing a call record.

Added new user preference to open a call record for editing when setting it to Closed (via the button).

Added Nickname to contact’s form fields.

New Profile setting added under Setup => Profile Settings => Page 2: Allow duplicate company names. When set to YES the system will allow entry of duplicate company names.

You can now default the Calendar tab to show the Day view instead of the Month view. The setting is under Page 2 in your Preferences screen (from the left menu bar), and is the last setting currently on that page.

Shortlist will now not allow duplicate shortlist names when saved. If no name is entered, the shortlist will be saved as Untitled. Any duplicate name will be appended a number, so a second untitled shortlist will be saved as Untitled 2 and so on.

Fixes

You can now enter a date in the quick search box to retrieve all events from that date.

When creating new Case, Task or Deal from a call, the contact and company will carry over to the new records where applicable.

You can now properly update date fields when mass updating records.

Fixed issues relating to importing deals with new products where the products and quantities did not always import correctly.

Quick search now also properly searches by deal contacts.

Fixed the Remove button from the calendar event. It will now remove selected users from the assigned list properly.

Fixed a problem with raw exports not always working.

Exporting from shortlist will now not export unchecked items in the shortlist, so you further filter out records you’d like not to export by unticking the check box next to them. Note that Updating mass records from the shortlist will affect all short-listed items of the selected type without regard to the state of the check box.

Fixed a problem where companies were not showing up when performing a search by tag (by clicking a tag).

Fixed a problem with tasks not showing in the calendar for certain security settings. Now tasks for all users will show in the calendar when the GROUP security setting is used, and individual tasks per user will show in other settings.

Resolved a few issues with the pipeline report where inaccurate results might show in certain circumstances.

NEW: Interactive Time line! A new way to view your calendar in time line view.

This Week box now respects the Preferences option whether to show completed records in the calendar.

Fixed report parameter form not showing correct name for selected report.

Additions:

You can now use Extended Fields in your Mail Templates!

Hovering a contact name will now display a tooltip with the Contact’s contact information. You can disable this feature from the Preferences screen by setting the Use Contact Tooltip option to No, on Page 2.

Calendar month view now shows a summary of events for a day when you hover the mouse cursor over that day.

When you now click the Queue link next to an email campaign you’ll be given the option to view the contents of the queue for that campaign, and remove individual emails or clear it up completely. You’ll also see any failure notice regarding specific emails there.

We created a new combined contact and company form that allows you to create/edit both contact and company together on one screen. You’ll find a new link titled Combined on the sub navigation menu below the top tabs.

A new button was added to the top of the Contact form. When clicked, and a company is present in the Company field (via the Company Lookup), it will populate the contact form with relevant data from the company record. This can save a lot of typing when you are entering contacts for a company and the contact details match those in the company record (pro version only).

You can now switch to other reports from within a report screen without going back to the main report section.

You can now duplicate a calendar event by clicking the Duplicate button in the event page (pro version only). A new form will be populated with all the duplicated event fields though a new event will be created when you save. Note that the event minutes field will not be copied over.

Company Priority field is now a customizable Field Set.

Case custom views now include the Assigned To field.

Task deadline now includes the time.

Date values now link to the corresponding calendar day.

Mass record update form can now add or remove record tags in bulk.

We changed the way the inner tabs within a record page look and behave. The system will remember (during your session) the last selected tab and it will be selected the next time you visit similar records. You can turn off the ‘stickiness’ of the tabs from Page 2 of your Preferences screen.

Added City, State and Country to the email campaign criteria.

Added an Alternative Email field to contacts. Note that the primary email is still the one used by default in mailouts etc, and the new email field is there for reference.

You can now double click an email template tag to insert it into the current document, in the template editor.

Fixes:

Mass record updates now works properly with company status, priority and category.

Moving through the months and years of a calendar month view now retains selected user (for User Administrators)

Fixed a problem with adding more options when editing multi-select elements in the Form editor using Firefox.

The user preference to automatically close calls when an end time is put in will now work fine.

Fixed an issue where using the A-Z letters to filter by first letter did not work if you had a default saved search that was later deleted.

Fixed a problem with company note import when mapping by company name (to use existing records, as opposed to creating new ones on the fly).

Mass record update form now allows updating field sets to an empty value.

If you are using GMail as your outgoing mail server for an email campaign remember that Google allows only 500 emails to be sent from any given account per day. If your email campaign contains more than 500 subscribers Google will reject any email after the 500th one and you will loose the mailouts for those contacts.

To connect your Gmail account to the CRM and use it to send and receive email, do the following:

Log into your Gmail account. Go to the Settings screen

Select the Forwarding and POP tab

Under POP Download choose one of the Enable option that suits you.

Your Gmail is now ready to be used as a POP and SMTP account. You might want to read the configuration insturctions. See the ones titled “Other” (or see here)

In the CRM, click the POP Accounts button on the left menu and create a new POP account.

The parameters for the POP account are those given to you by Google (in configuration instructions). Normally you’ll want to set Email Address to be your gmail email address, the POP Host would be pop.gmail.com and the smtp will be smtp.gmail.com.

Use your regular Gmail account login for the username and password fields for both POP and SMTP.

That’s it. Our server will pick up on the fact that you use Gmail and will make sure that communication between your and Google is done on an encrypted channel as per Google’s requirements.

In our last release we introduced the option to create relationships between extended fields of type ‘drop down’.
What that means is that you can now create drop down selectors which show different options deepening on a selection in another drop down. This can allow you to restrict the data your users input into the right context.

Lets examine a simple usage:
A computer retailer might require to represent the following data structure:

Desktop Workstations

Intel based desktops

AMD based desktops

Sun workstations

SGI workstations

Laptops and Notebooks

Small form factor notebooks

IBM Thinkpads

Tablet PCs

MacBook

Servers

Linux based servers (Intel)

Linux based servers (AMD)

Sun servers

The retailer wants to have one drop down with the three top level options: Desktop Workstations, Laptops and Notebooks and Servers. Our retailer then wants a second drop down which will show the sub options for each selection in the first. So that when a user chooses Servers the second drop down will show only Linux based (Intel), Linux based (AMD) and Sun Servers.

To do this, first we need to create both drop downs extended fields. The first one contains the three top level options. Note the new check box that will appear in the form and determines that this drop down has a child dependant drop down.

The second drop down should contain ALL the sub options of all top levels. That is , the second box should contain the options for notebooks, servers and desktops.

After both drop downs are created, open the first one for editing. A new form will show underneath the field form:

First, we need to select which other drop down is the dependant ‘child’ drop down. Select the second drop down you created containing all the sub options.
Then, select each option for the parent element, via the radio checks on the left side of the form, and then select all the related options on the right side. If you need to select more than one option, you can hold down the Ctrl (Command for Mac) key.
After setting each option, click the Save button, to make it ‘stick’.

That’s it. The next time you open the record type containing those drop downs, the relationships will be apparent. When a choice is made in the first drop down, the second one will adjust its options accordingly.

Note

To maintain backward compatibility with existing data, if you modify an existing drop down to add a dependant child drop down to it, and there is data in the system that contradicts the relationships you have created, it will still show even though it does not fit the new context you set up. This is done to ensure that you will not loose data.

Our release cycle has somewhat slowed up, but only because we are working hard on some major enhancements to freeCRM which we’ll release very soon! We have decided to break our next release into two chunks. The first one now, contains:

Additions:

You can now set up extended fields of the drop down type (select boxes) which when selected, control the options that appear in another extended field drop down box. This is quite handy if you’d like to restrict the data that your users can select in for a record, and contextualise it.
For example: you can setup a drop down extended field titled Sectors that holds various sectors your industry, and another drop down that contains different disciplines unique for each sector. When the user selects the top level Sector the appropriate disciplines show up in the second drop down, limiting his selection to the right context.

You can now determine the start date of a Sales Target.

Added a new way to order Form elements. This is available via the Form Editor for each form.

You will now be notified about new communications from us regarding your open support cases, so you won’t miss important information regarding your queries.

You can now customize which voip protocol to use for displaying phone number links. This setting can be enabled in the Profile Settings screen (Page 2). We also disabled the restriction to begin phone numbers with a + sign and country code but do make sure the phone number format matches the one required by your voip application to enable the integration between freeCRM and your software voip phones.

We’ve modified the number format for deal commission to allow percentage values with up to 3 decimal digits.

Fixes:

Exporting from the shortlist now also exports addresses for contacts.

Added an extra empty option to the industry drop down in contact search.

The quick create form now expands to accommodate all fields in it without scrolling.

Fixed an issue with exporting call script data.

The action selector will now appear when the contacts results contains just one contact.

After many delays, a new release is out!

Additions:

Email campaigns can be scheduled.

Email campaigns send engine improved: You no longer need to wait for a mailout to complete.

Added a link titled QUEUE to the email campaign listing. Clicking it will tell you how many more emails are in that campaign’s queue waiting to be sent.

Field sets keys can now have a numeric weight to control their order in the field set dropdown boxes. By default, field sets will now sort alphabetically, unless a specific order is determined via the weights.

Added Expired as an option in the status field of Task search.

The rich text editor option is now a global account setting instead of a user setting. That means that only the Administrators can set it on/off for the entire account. The problem with having it as a user selectable option, is that the editor generates additional Html content that maintains the ‘rich’ quality of the entered text. Users who do not use the rich editor will see that content as ‘plain’ text when they edit those fields, making the data less usable. If you have used the editor and it suddenly reverted back to the plain text mode, please consult your Administrator to turn it back on for the entire account. Email template will have access to the rich editor regardless of this setting.

Documents can now contain tags, which allows easy grouping of documents to a group of other records.

Knowledge base content will now utilize the rich text editor if that option is enabled for the account.

You can now set a default POP account to be pre selected in email forms. You can do that via the POP account data page.

You can now set a User Administrator setting to change all country fields from a free text field to a drop down.

Fixes:

When performing a campaign mailout, the list of subscribers will now only show if you click the Show Subscribers button.

Fixed the Show Projected Value button in the deal form. It now correctly collects the sum of all attached products.

Fixed full form searches failing if you search by date extended fields and have the calendar mode set to use the 3 date selectors.

Deal quantity defaults to 0 when editing a deal without a product.

Category added to contact full search form.

Default custom view is now pre selected in full search forms (contact/company)

Fixed a problem with company mass field update

This is a Major release for us! Besides a good deal of new features, we can now support character sets from almost any language, from Japanese to Hebrew to Arabic or Thai!
Additions:

Full UTF (Unicode) Support - Our database and application are now full UTF8 compliant and can support characters from most languages correctly, including support for importing/exporting data with extended character sets.

Criteria based email campaigns now include tags as part of the criteria. Note that when using tags in the criteria, the operator used will be OR and not AND (e.g., adding both tags Magic and Tragic to the criteria, will pull out contacts who has either tag).

The contact record page will now show a list of all other contacts that were referred by the contact.

Deals now contain a commission field (percentage). When viewing a deal’s record the commission amount will be calculated using the commission percentage and the deal total amount.

The Welcome text box in the preferences screen will now use the rich text editor if you have it turned in your Preferences settings.

Products amount/cost can now contain values of up to 99,999,999,999.99.

Added wholesale price field to products.

Cases now show the Deadline field in the default view. As well, overdue cases are marked in red and those expiring today are marked in yellow.

Added an Industry field to the contact search panel. This is a drop down pick list which shows all the industries used by the company records in your database. Searching by Industry will pull out all contacts that relate to that industry (via their company connections).

Added the ability to import from vCal files.

Added Deal Identifier to task import field mapping

The home page now shows cases expiring this week and overdue ones.

Added Save and Create New button to the Extended Fields creation form.

We rearranged the Setup screen.

Fixes:

Fixed a problem in the contact full search form that happened during the last release.

Fixed task query when sorting by Assigned To (applicable only if you created custom views that contain that field).

Deal search by contact now includes the primary contact.

Fixed a bug where under the RECORD security setting contacts might not appear under their related companies if the owner was not assigned explicitly.

Fixed a problem where if two users created tasks/case/deal records at the same time, the records might share the same sequence number.
As a result of this fix, if you create a task/case/deal record which at creation time shows its sequence as 10032, and another user has created a record of the same type with the same number before you had a change to submit your form, then your record will receive the next sequence number in line (i.e., 10033).

Fixed a problem when paginating tag searches.

Fixed a pagination issue when performing searches by owner in the Deals section.

Added State field to call search results and listings to show the call’s Open/Closed state.

Extended field ordering field will now expand to show all fields without scrolling.

Fixed a problem in the user’s time online report where sometimes certain logons would not be counted in the total for a user.

The import tool has been improved and updated.

Update: You’ll find a new drop down box in the import form to allow you to select the encoding of the file you are importing. This is required if you are importing files with extended character setc (i.e., files containing chinese or thai that are NOT UTF).
For more about character encoding, see here

Contact full search form now allows searching by birthday using date ranges or by a specific month.

Criteria based campaigns can now filter by extended fields

You can now select to show overdue events in the home page. To turn this feature on, see your Profile Settings screen under Setup. Note that you need to be logged in as a User Administrator to access this screen.
The This Week panel on the Home page will now scroll when there are many events instead of displaying as a long list.

Fixed a performance issue when importing very large data sets with a very large number of extended fields.

Using tags you can create quick ad-hoc keywords to categorize and group records of different types together.

For example, you could tag a bunch of contacts, a few deals and a couple of calls as “Lucrative“.
You’ve instantly created a new category titled Lucrative and assigned all these records to it.
A search on the Lucrative tag will yield all the records tied to that keyword.
In your Home page you’ll find a list of all used tags, ordered by popularity. Tags which have more records assigned to them will appear first. Clicking a tag will present you with the contents of that category. You’ll also notice a drop down selector to the right of the tag list, where you can select from a bunch of different additional web sites and search engines (some of which also use tags as means to categorize data). Selecting a different site from that drop down and clicking a tag will open a search for that tag in the selected web site (handy for web research). The default searches are for your freeCRM database. Searches in any of those other web sites will be performed in a new window.

There are three different modes of tag entry. The User Administrator for you account sets which tag mode will be used for the entire company.
This setting can be found under Setup->Profile Settings as “Tag Entry Mode“.

The three modes are:

FREE
Users are free to enter any tag they want for a record.

LIST ONLY
Tags are only selectable from a predetermined list, and users cannot enter their own tags.
The User Administrator sets up a Field Set containing all allowed tags in advance. This can be done under: Setup-> Setup Field Sets -> Predefined Tag List. This field set contains all the available tags users can choose from.

USED LIST
Users can enter any tag they want but they are also offered a list of all tags currently in use in the system. This can prevent them for creating tags with typos (causing unwanted duplication) or lead them towards better selection of keywords.

Note that tags in freeCRM are a single word keyword (no spaces). When you visit a record’s page, you’ll find the tag entry fields which depending on the tag entry mode your company uses, might be a single text entry field, or one accompanied by a select box.

If you use the LIST ONLY mode, to remove a tag from a record simply select the tag from the right list of tags and click the Remove button next to it.
For any other mode, you can just delete the tag from the list of tags for that record.

Traditionally, software houses working on a product have a fixed release cycle every certain period of time, for example every 6 months.
Any bugs found with the product between those release cycles are either dealt with by issuing a hotfix (or patch), or if the issue is minor, it is deferred to the next release cycle (or ignored).
We never really liked that model. There might be no other realistic way when the software is released on a CD (that you can pick up in a store and pay for at the counter), but it doesn’t hold true with a hosted software solution.

This is the reason why we try to do a weekly release with new features and fixes. We’ve also started documenting every little addition or fix we make to the application and publish it in the release notes.
As well, the main driving force of our development is user requests – users of our professional edition can request features via the support helpdesk, and we do aim to please as much as possible ;o)

This is a big release with a good deal of well requested features:
New Features:

We’ve started Blog.Free.Crm which will be used to keep you informed of what’s new with the system.
A news feed from the blog now appears in your freeCRM home page and can be turned off via the Preference screen.

We’ve added a Frequently Asked Questions section, available from the left menu (FAQ button).

Custom views can now include extended fields (Sorting by these extended fields is not yet enabled).

Extended fields of type DATE are now searchable using date ranges in the Contact/Company full search forms.

Added additional email campaign criteria fields: company industry, annual revenue, number of employees and more.

When editing company address you can now propagate the address to the company contacts. The address can be copied or shared with the contacts.

Company industry field can now be a customizable drop down field-set instead of the standard free text field.
To use a drop down, set the option: “Use a free text for company industry” to NO in your Preferences screen (Page 2).

Added a new preference setting to control the default selection for call forms for “Contact exists/does not exist”.

New preference setting: You can now create an automatic note to contacts every time a contact is mailed out via an email campaign. To turn this feature on, log on as a User administrator and see your Profile screen (this option is not available to regular users as it is an account wide setting).

Pressing ALT + S will focus the quick search form field.

Added Messenger Id/Network/Skype Id to the list of mapping fields on imports.

The quick search form now allows you to specify if you want to search the CRM database or the web. Both results will display inside the CRM.

Fixes:

Under very certain conditions, clicking a contact from a deal search results might not show closed deals in the contacts deals tab. This has been fixed.

Fixed a problem when searching for company names in the lookup window where the name contained special characters.
